The terrifying legislation that allows for Americans to be arrested, detained indefinitely, tortured and interrogated — without charge or trial — passed through the Senate on Thursday with an overwhelming support from 93 percent of lawmakers.

Under the bill, Americans can be held by the US military for terrorism-related charges and detained without trial indefinitely.


Rand Paul klarte visstnok alene å stoppe en av de verste delene av loven.

Sen. Rand Paul prevented the passage of an amendment No. 1274 would have allowed the U.S. government to detain an American citizen indefinitely, even after they had been tried and found not guilty, until Congress declares an end to the war on terror.


Les passasjen ovenfor på nytt. Senatet ville altså gi militæret fullmakt til å holde amerikanerne selv etter de var blitt funnet uskyldig.
